IT'S BACK!
It's not too early too start planning for how you're going to spend your 2022 summer! You've been doing your part by getting vaccinated and not leaving the house for two years, so reward yourself with a visit to beautiful, historic Molalla, OR on July 2nd for the triumphant return of the Seventh Annual BBQ and Pig Roast! We can't block out the sun for you every year like in 2017, but we promise good food and good company!
This year, the party moves back to John Todd’s house at Gravity Acres in part of our every-other-year cycle switching between N&M and JT’s place.

As usual, Portland is the primary destination for those of you coming in from out of town (or out of the country.) If you've been to Portland - you know it's a great place to visit in the summer! If you haven't been to Portland, this is your big chance! Make it a long weekend, eat great food, see interesting things, go hiking or to the beach or do any one of the dozens of civilized and relaxing things that make Oregon a nearly-perfect destination.
This year, the event is back at JT's, just the other fork in the driveway from Nick & Mercedes'. You can visit there and take a selfie with one of their chickens. 2016 was the big debut of the Redneck Hottub. Will it make a comeback for 2022? Who knows!
The people invited come from the families, neighbors, friends, and the mob of former/current co-workers or associates of JT, Nick, and Mercedes (and new baby Zoë!) over the last [redacted] years. I won't even list the companies, because that list is getting pretty long. You know who you are. Many are repeat attendees, but it’s great to have new people who have never been - it’s a friendly crowd, and everyone is welcome.
The pig roast has been amazingly good for the last four years, and I suspect it will be equally good this year. There will be lots of other good food heaped on the tables, and you won't leave hungry. Vegetarian and vegan options will be available, as well as plenty of fare for the meatitarians.
Seriously, this is a low-stress event. Even if you don't know anyone other than one of the three hosts you should still see if you can make it. Chances are 100% that you will have much in common with a large number of the people there, if it's tech, art, music, or other common interests. The last six bbq's have been great, and we hope to make this year even bigger and better.
Families are welcome, as are dogs as long as they get along well with crowds and children.
If you're not RSVPing on Facebook, please mail jtodd@loligo.com or with your questions or let me know you're attending so the food can be appropriately sized. Information to forward for those not on Facebook can be found here: http://www.sightunseen.farm/annual-bbq/
There are B&Bs close by, and some hotels. Portland is 50 minutes north, Salem is 45 minutes south. Anyone wanting to camp, bring an RV, or spend the day just kicking around is welcome to do so. Dinner will be around 4 or 5, but the schedule is loose. If the weather is inclement (unlikely) there is lots of area under cover for eating and socializing.
See you in July!
